This was a fast paced and fun way to get to see things from his point of view; and to watch him power up! I'd say more but I don't want to spoil the book for you. Jan 01, Jack Vinson rated it it was amazing. Fun but too fast My two boys giggled through their reading of this. And then I read it and had to laugh as well.
The story takes Jaxon, a secondary character from Completionist Chronicles, and tells his story.
It turns out he is another Completionist, like the main character. A lot of the humor is more sensible in the context of the other books. Jan 01, Xander Boyce rated it it was amazing. Krout does it again While Jaxon might not be a person I'd like to spend time with in the real world. Spending a couple hours with him in this book was just what the doctor ordered. You'll crack up laughing throughout. Jan 01, Mahesh Nakka rated it it was amazing. Well well a nice bonus! New year started with this awesomeness, what more you need. As we already know how cool Joe is, I am glad that we got a book on Jaxon and introducing a new character Jess.
Must read people! Dec 29, Karsten Hansen rated it it was amazing. Great interlude to the next book in the Completionist series. Have to agree with Colin that Mr. Krout knocked it out of the park with this. I am looking forward to hearing Vikas Adams reading this. First of all I have to congratulate the artist of the cover for capturing Jaxon's character so well. So well I had to think more that twice before I started reading it. Just looking at that face made me not want to read it. Contrary to that, I really enjoyed the story and the characters in it and had a laugh throughout most of the book. I really like the way low charisma affects a player.
Very humorous and none of those horrible puns of the previous book! Please, never again! Side note: Same phylu First of all I have to congratulate the artist of the cover for capturing Jaxon's character so well. Side note: Same phylum? Even humans and sharks are in the same Phylum as snakes. This was stretched nearly to the max to make that skill possible with a snake connection. Really, simple snake hands would have been fine, Jaxon is 'special' in any case. Feb 04, RodTheWay rated it it was amazing Shelves: litrpg. Joe waited until the end of book 1 to get 10 in constitutio dang, what a funny book!
Joe waited until the end of book 1 to get 10 in constitution Jax didn't even reach 10 in charisma BOOM, solution didn't breach 4th wall. Good job. Jan 26, Simon Larcher rated it really liked it. One of the more intriguing characters gets his own story. If the character of Jaxon the crazy, posture-obsessed acupuncturist amuses you, then you will probably enjoy this. If he annoys you, then I would avoid this. The silliness that is usually present during all interactions with jaxon are in the story in even greater levels than previously - fair warning!

This story takes place after the end of the 2nd main story Regicide and follows Jaxon as he heads off on his own to complete his own class quest.
During the story, we see his stats which goes some way to explaining some off his behaviour and also hear more of his back story which also helps us understand him some more. A certain amount of crazy just seems to be a core part of him! This story introduces a new character that appears destined to be added to the main story but not reading this does not seem like it would affect the introduction of them into the main story too much. In summary, if you like Jaxon, read this.

Lighthearted, funny, and insightful This is a great view into a side character from the main story. The tone remains what you expect from a Dakota Krout story; lighthearted and fun with plenty of puns. While we saw how low strength and constitution can impact a character in Ritualist, here we get to see what low charisma and high dexterity can do. Best of all, Jaxon has different ideals, goals, background than Joe which indirectly allows the reader to see some of the benefits and limitations to Lighthearted, funny, and insightful This is a great view into a side character from the main story.

Not only do you learn about a different character, but as a byproduct you gain insight on the main story line as well. I downloaded and read this the same day. It was a very enjoyable read! The story was good and fleshed out the world a bit more.
Established a few charactes besides the main party and gave a face to some only heard of previously. Probably my own fault for not reading the description fully or at all, really , but this book isnt about Joe MC, the Ritualist but instead about the chiropractor of the MCs party. The whole "Charisma below 10" thing making him say and hear things that arent actually spoken is both annoying and at some times funny. I am still not sure how The story was good and fleshed out the world a bit more. I am still not sure how i feel about the fact, that he doesn't actually "know" about this fact.
Good Read I was a little hesitant about the book, after reading a couple reviews. Although Joe is my favorite character in this series, it was pretty cool learning more about why Jaxon is such a strange character. I really enjoyed the adventure he was on and learning more about the game world they are in. Jan 12, Stand Woodall rated it it was amazing. Surprisingly excellent I had been abiding reading this for a while because to me side quests or short novellas are usually how an author distracts their fans from the fact that they need to buy more time before their larger book comes out. I don't like reading about things not essential to the main plot while waiting, but this book has made me rethink that stance. It was fun and enjoyable as any of Mr. Krout's other books and I'm simply looking forward to the next completionist book even more now Surprisingly excellent I had been abiding reading this for a while because to me side quests or short novellas are usually how an author distracts their fans from the fact that they need to buy more time before their larger book comes out.

Not really a third book Loved it! Wasn't really interested when i first read the blurb but got hooked quick. I still thibk it should be named side quests instead of book 3 as it follows a side character, but I'm not the author so not my call. I am looking forward to book 4 and hoping it's back with the main character instead of another sude character. Though the choice to follow this one was inspired and a barrel of laughs. Hope there is more side stories with him as he is fun. But as i said i we Not really a third book Loved it!

Loved how Jaxon is pretty much as crazy as he seems. Have to love how the system is essentially fucking with him cause he has such a low charisma stat.
Seriously from the beginning to the end only 2 pt increase! Then the ending where they said he was banished yet Joe was like "Yeah right, thats not going to happen". Seems like there is a new contender to be pain in the ass drill instructor. For Joe's group they finally got a normal person XD as a team organizer This book was awesome. The not so good part for me is that Jaxon is just not a believable character anymore. His general charisma deficit gets lame over time and his t-rex hands are Too absurd setting. I got a "free" copy of this book because I support the author on Patreon. If you haven't read the other books in this series, I would read them first. This one has substantial spoilers for the previous three. It's almost entirely from Jaxon's perspective the acupuncture-using monk , which makes the tone a lot weirder than the books from Joe's perspective I like Joe's perspective better. That said, if you like the other books in this series, you'll probably like this one too.
